Responsible for the overall operations of the Endoscopy area/GI lab as well as the Pain Management Procedure Unit and for the organization, direction, coordination and evaluation of the nursing/other staff members involved in the daily operations in both facilities. Overall supervision of the staff and scheduling of patient procedures while adhering to all policies and procedures associated with the Endoscopy area/GI Lab/Pain Management Procedure Unit. Supports both center s objectives and goals relative to patient care/procedures and assists with the personal development of the staff members in order to achieve those goals on an ongoing basis. Performs clinical nursing duties when necessary that include but not limited to, assisting physicians in performing procedures in endoscopy area, GI lab, pain management unit, administering medications and, monitoring vital signs and medications, and provide health education, procedure instruction/information to patients and families while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. BSN, Current State of California Nursing license, BLS and ACLS required. Demonstrates strong organizational and supervisory skills to facilitate an extremely busy and demanding clinic environment. Ability to work overtime when necessary and provide back up support in times of absences, vacations, etc. Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure. Ability to supervise and maintain effective working relationships with tact and sensitivity at all levels with patients, physicians, technicians and staff members. Ability to react and lead effectively in medical emergencies and in emergency evacuations. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Experienced in directing, teaching and supervising nursing/medical personnel. Ability to travel between various procedure units when necessary. Ability to assist physicians in performing procedures in the endoscopy area/GI Lab /Pain Management Unit practicing medical and surgical asepsis at all times. Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of care specific to endoscopy area/GI Laboratory/ Pain Management, including conscious sedation. Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and ability to identify dysrhythmias. Knowledgeable in pharmacology/drug interactions/side effects. PC proficiency in a Windows environment and Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail.
