**Temporary Position** Non-Benefited** Feb 13, 2012 to July 13, 2012Job Summary: Working under the general direction of the Cardiac & Vascular Service Line Director and the direct supervision of the Director of Cardiovascular Health and Wellness, the Cardiovascular Health and Wellness Specialist performs specific patient assessments, cardiovascular and pulmonary monitoring, patient care management and procedures for patients referred to/enrolled in Cardiac, Cardiopulmonary or Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in the development of and application of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care treatment plans and therapies. Patients may be followed by LLUMC physicians or outside physicians. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects and other health related projects as assigned. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraises quality and effectiveness of materials and equipment and communicates to responsible individuals. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands cardiovascular knowledge base and clinical skills. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation between a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: 2 years AMA approved Respiratory Therapy as specified by NBRC, BS preferred or Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology- ASCM Certified Preferred one year management of cardiac or chronic disease patients. Respiratory Care Examining Committee, Department of Consumer Affairs, Respiratory Care Practitioner State of California. Professional: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC or American College of Sports Medicine examining Committee, Professional: ASCM Exercise specialist SM or ASCM Program Director SM.: ACLS, BLS. Assembly and troubleshooting of patient care equipment; drawing of blood, physical assessment (patient examination); preventative maintenance, calibration and operation of patient care equipment. Computer data entry and operation to keep patient records. Works well with others, contact with public. Works well with representatives of medical equipment companies, works alone and with others; communicates well with physicians and representatives of health care organizations. Ability to perform algebraic calculations, ability to interpret data, critical thinking, ability to spell, read and comprehend, understand computer equipment and departmental and hospital information systems, and verbally communicate accurately and clearly.
