AML Data Analyst

Pursuant to maintaining compliance with Anti-Money Laundering / Bank Secrecy Act requirements, the Client requires business / data analysts to help conduct gap analysis on Global Markets transactional data subject to suspicious activity monitoring. MANTIS is the activity monitoring platform used by Global Financial Crimes Compliance that receives the various data feeds (transactional, positional and any other activity) on which it runs algorithms to determine alignment with compliance requirements. The main objective will be to engage with business owners and technology to investigate sources of transactional data and underlying feeds to identify root cause for the observed anomalies in the data (completeness, accuracy, failure to meet tolerances, etc.)

The resources will work from an existing list of gaps (based on a previous internal review) specifically noting the current state data flows, source-to-target mapping and any other interaction that leads to resolution of the data gap. In defining the current state and working with GFCC to explain the nature of the data feeds, it may be determined the perceived gap is not a gap at all, but was a lack of understanding the actual securities’ reference data elements from the individuals who compiled the list of data gaps. Knowledge of various types of securities (equities, fixed income, derivatives and FX) and the ability to do forensic research on the transactional or positional data is imperative. In the case that a true gap is determined / confirmed, the resource will work directly with business leaders / technology leads to devise a resolution plan that will include either:

Skills required/desired:
-Knowledge of capital markets business with various types of securities (equities, fixed income, derivatives and FX)
-For Derivatives (there is an underlying security) and FX (there is an underlying currency): Familiarity with transaction data attributes and structure (ex: multi-leg deals), OTC Bi-lateral & Listed products is a plus
-Ability to face off with business partners to understand the data gap and work with technology to fix it. And the ability to articulate the source of the data gap and how to resolve it or the ability to articulate clearly to the business why this data gap is not a gap, but the nature of the way the security trades.
-Must be able to work independently (hit the ground running) or as part of a collaborative team across multiple FTE and vendors
-Must have strong Excel in relation to large data sets (i.e., v-lookup, pivot tables, use of aggregate functions) and Visio workflow ability
-Must be familiar with data modelling concepts
