POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Cardiovascular Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills in the care of his/ her patients. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the individual patient. The Registered Cardiovascular Tech will perform only those duties for which he/ she has demonstrated competency. The Registered Cardiovascular Tech performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Swedish Medical Center. Works as a team member to assist the physician in performing the invasive cardiac procedures. Duties include scrubbing, recording and X-Ray operation. Performs ancillary duties related to the job such as quality control, inventory and stocking as assigned by the supervisor. Provides all customers with the service/tests needed in a safe, friendly and efficient manner. The Cardiovascular Technologist s aim is to provide quality health care in the area of coronary angiography and cardiac or other vascular procedures as required by the Cardiac Cath Lab Department. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: National registry with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). BLS and ACLS on hire.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Completed an accredited CV training program or Radiologic training program.. Current BLS and ACLS Certifications.
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience on the job or graduate from associate s degree program in radiology or cardiovascular technology. Certification required upon hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skills commensurate with formal training or on the job training such as operation of all cardiovascular lab equipment and instrumentation, scrub and monitor to include emergent procedures. Displays good communication and organizational skills. Adheres to departmental safety and quality controls. Must have a good working knowledge of radiographic, hemodynamic monitoring, recording equipment and/or devices relative to cardiovascular procedures as determined by the Director. Must have basic keyboard and computer skills.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Delegated responsibilities for patient care under the direct supervision of the RN in charge of the patient s care, the Charge RN, Cath Lab Manager or the Director of Patient Care.
ORIENTATION PERIOD: Minimum of two weeks contingent upon experience. Extensive orientation may be required and will be determined by Director/ designee.
