Department: Single Stay Unit, Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. A new program offering an exciting opportunity to work with world leading cardiac specialists in an innovative and ground breaking program. Our new Heart Center features a 16-bed state of the art design to create a family centered friendly atmosphere. This unit provides a holistic approach, which encompasses care that starts with the pre-operative phase, and includes the immediate post operative recovery through to discharge. Patient population includes: open heart and thoracic surgeries, post cardiac intervention, and acute cardiac care management. To help you provide the best care we offer: - Internationally recognized physician team. - Multidisciplinary team that collaborates daily during teaching rounds. - Shared governance through our unit based practice committee. - Nationally recognized AACN Critical Care training program. - Reimbursement for CCRN certification. - Latest monitoring technology including bedside, telemetry and infusion equipment. - Nurse call wireless phone system to keep you in touch with patients and team members. - Comprehensive cardiac rehab team. - On site charge nurse, critical care techs, and respiratory therapists. Job Description: The RN reports to and is accountable to the department Management team. The RN provides professional care through the coordination and delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process, education and research. The RN is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care, and may supervise nursing care provided by assistive personnel. Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Maine licensure as a Registered Nurse, and current BLS and ACLS. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Critical care experience and/or cardiac surgery experience preferred. Successful completion of 12 lead EKG, critical care, IABP, and basic arrhythmia courses within one year of hire. Skills: Basic computer knowledge. Proficient in interpreting ECG. Regular Part-Time Night shift
