Job Description

Kaplan College - Palm Springs campus is hiring a Career Services Advisor / Externship Coordinator for the Medical Assisting program.

The Career Services Advisor supports all aspects of Career Services including developing externship sites, career opportunities and identifying employment opportunities through managing and executing community outreach activities to create long-term relationships with employers. S/he also assists graduates and alumni with their job search by facilitating the critical components of their placement and participating in the delivery of Kaplan's Career Development course. S/he works with the campus Director of Career Services to achieve budgeted objectives and to ensure school compliance with KHEC, state and accreditation regulations relating to placement.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive and long-term working relationships with community employers and externship sites for the purposes of career placement of our graduates. Activities include proactively reaching out to employers, following-up after all interviews with graduates, inviting employers to visit the campus to participate in on-site career fairs.

Conduct employer outreach activities to develop new job leads and job orders including reaching out to establish their hiring needs, send graduates resumes, assist in scheduling interviews, and follow up with employers and graduates following all interviews.

Manage the relationship with a defined set of students throughout the entirety of their education and placement experience including leading one-on-one meetings to determine job interests, reviewing and providing feedback on their resume, participating in mock interviews, following-up with them post-interviews.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Associate's Degree preferred
2-5 years related experience as a Medical Assistant
Experience in a placement office, staffing agency, or other related sales experience is a plus.
Must have strong technical skills including all MicroSoft Office applications, , internet research, database management and analytical skills. Must have excellent follow up skills and be self motivated and self driven.

Experience with CampusVue or other higher education database management system preferred by not required.

Salary commensurate with experience.
