Job Description


Serve as subject matter expert and voice of customer/brand for assigned category to drive business plan development, DPSM and gap closure with CD Sales teams and Category/Brand partners. Deliver financial objectives of Nets Sales, OP, Category Share, DPSM and Trade Management. Ensure decisions are made for brand and customer teams in a timely manner, including trade related decisions and approvals. Hold customer and brand teams accountable to have business plans developed from insights to execution with clear communication to field sales.


* Net Sales and Trade Management owner for assigned category, ensuring compliance to CFI guidelines.

* Precise understanding of marketplace dynamics in assigned channel.

* Influence short and long term customer business plans to align with category and brand strategies and deliver financial results.

* Drive business results as a subject matter expert and Voice of Customer, delivering programs grounded in insights and aligned to customer/channel needs.

* Check & adjust brand and customer business plans in Annual Operating Planning process to close gaps and deliver financial targets

* Attend customer meetings where warranted by business need

* Accountable for DPSM target development and delivery at a national level

* Follow an Insights to Execution framework by developing customer communication of category strategies, plans, initiatives and sales fundamentals (DPSM KPI's - Distribution, Pricing, Shelving and Merchandising).

* Ability to assess business dynamics, identify gaps, develop and communicate corrective action plans to address gaps to national targets


* Ability to clearly and precisely communicate orally and in writing to individuals and groups.

* Ability to adapt and support the organization through times of change.

* Ability to build strong, ongoing personal and business relationships Cross functionally at various levels with Sr. Brand Managers, Directors, Vice Presidents and Business Unit Presidents.

* Ability to travel via aircrafts, and operate and drive motor vehicles for business travel, with valid driver license.


Adjust to meet requirements of changing conditions/situations. Maintain effectiveness of varying environments with different tasks, responsibilities and people. Render judgments and make timely decisions in alignment with business objectives. Set priorities and proactively identify issues, underlying problems and potential solutions to develop plan of action. Evaluate cause and effect relationships. Keep team leader informed on status of plans and programs, changing conditions, requirements of marketplace, competitive activity, issues and accomplishments that may affect sales results.


Education required/ preferred:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree required.


Experience in creating and managing sustainable customer relationships. Brand, Category and Customer management experience. Strong persuasive, sales and analytical skills.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

Cross-functional knowledge of marketplace analytics, logistics and customer business planning. Knowledge of marketing concepts and exposure to demand planning process. Strong knowledge and demonstrated use of data access tools and intermediate to advanced PC based applications (Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).


Results, strategy and vision orientation, leadership through influencing, strong oral and written communication, financial and budget management, trade management, ethical judgment and decision making, change management, analytical, project and risk management and building relationships.

Other Skills:

Cross-cultural, prioritization and time management, resources and team management, active listening, adaptability, interpersonal and social perspectives.


Reports to National Category Sales Director or National Category Sr. Team Leader. May also work with category/brand teams, Sales Planning, Category Management, Planning, Ops, R&E, Customer Development and subordinates.


Provide Brand and BU Sales expertise cross functionally. Render timely decisions on behalf of teams. Ensure adherence to the Insights to Execution framework. Communicate category plans to Field Sales teams. Be voice of customer to brand teams in business plan development.


Travel may include up to 40% of work time. Travel may also include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations. May include prolong periods of sitting, typing and viewing computer/laptop screens.
