Summary of Job Duties
The Central Processing Technician (OR) performs all technical duties associated with the preparation of instrumentation for surgical procedures under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of technical skills that require independent judgment, with emphasis on planning and preparation. Assumes responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to approved Unit Structure Standards and Generic Nursing Structure Standards. Demonstrates an awareness of and assumes self-responsibility for practice within the prescribed performance standards. Assists the surgical team in providing a safe, efficient environment for the patient and the OR team.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)
Ability to handle stressful situations and respond appropriately
Ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, rapidly changing environment
Central Service Certification preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent certification
Minimum of 2 years experience in Central Processing preferred, or completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
Works well with others in a team-oriented environment, including support of other co-workers job duties in a manner that further advances the goals and objectives of the whole organization
