Incumbent will perform duties as a Central Service Technician (CST) which includes distribution of supplies and equipment as assigned within UCLA Health System. This position is a support position to patient care primarily within the procedural, interventional, and radiology areas. Assignments are given according to organizational goals. Performance benchmarks are reviewed on an as needed basis at a minimum of annually. Assignments can be located within the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Medical Plazas, Wasserman Eye Research Center, and Santa Monica Medical Center and Orthopedic Hospital.

Within procedural and distribution areas, incumbent duties may include the following:
Work closely with the clinical staff to identify their product needs and staging preferences. Set up and / or modify products within a supply management software. Place electronic orders using a hand held or third party software to replenish inventory to set pars. Receive and transport supplies weighing up to 50 pounds from the dock to their destinations. Reconcile packing slips against ordered and delivered content using multiple software platforms. Assess and revise par levels to accommodate changing demand. Recommend or assist in inventory cost reduction initiatives. Reconcile packing slips against ordered and delivered content. Assist in the management of backordered items via notification stickers and on-hand counts. Assist in picking up supplies for scheduled and trauma cases for the OR. Assist in consolidating OR supplies into specialty packs by procedure. Assist clinical staff with researching patient supplies used for charge posting reconciliations. Write and email out daily summaries of day' activities using an excel template.


The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong English verbal and written interpersonal communication skills, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. This person must be enthusiastic, thrive in a team environment, comfortable with computers, and confident enough to share his or her ideas for improvement. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, comfortable with entering data into a database or excel spreadsheet, eager to learn new software platforms, disciplined, and conscientious enough to adhere to strict deadlines and protocols without continuous monitoring.
Previous hospital, purchasing or accounting experience is preferred. Experience in electronic ordering using a handheld and in extracting reports for supply chain management database such as Lawson or Optiflex is a plus.
