Assists professional nursing personnel in providing resident care in the McReynolds Hall Extended Care Facility in accordance with standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long-term care facilities. Communicates resident findings to nurse. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required include: 1.Current CNA registration with the State of Michigan. 2.BLS Certification within 90 days of start date. 3.Skills necessary to provide patient care as evidenced by completed position-specific competency check list. 4.Approximately 2-4 weeks unit specific orientation under the supervision of a licensed professional necessary to become familiar with department/Hospital procedures and processes as well as establish competency to perform duties required by position. 5.Ability to lift and maneuver equipment; ability to position and transfer residents using assistive devices and proper body mechanics. 6.Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with the healthcare team. 7.Ability to provide care for residents in the following age groups: Adults 19 to 65 years; Geriatric over 65 years.
