Certified Nursing Assistant
The CNA is directly responsible for the safety and supervision of individuals served by RHD/Mandela. Incumbent will implement residentially based interventions, support of the consumer daily living, both in the home and in the community. Ensure that goals
outlined in their ISP and Behavioral Support Plan are worked on regularly.
Ensure residents' documentation and comes are in compliance with DPW 6400 regulations.
Administer medication as prescribed and daily medication documentation is accurate.
Responsible to assist with all personal hygine and peri care.
Responsible to monitor vital signs on client
Assist with maintaining household budgets, including making purchases for both the needs of the residents and household supplies, and distributing funds for social/recreational activities.
Monitor the comfort and safety of individual, while ensuring tht medical, nutritional and personal care needs are met.
Support individuals to identify and achieve the personal outcomes important to them.
Interact with individulas in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner, and practice effective techniques for reinforcing appropriate individual behavior.
Manage wound care.
Utilize crisis management skills.
Knowledge of insulin dependent Type 1 Diabetes, with cluctuating blood glucose levels and Cancer symptoms, as well.
Accompany the individual on medical appointments and ensure effective, accurate communication with medical professionals..
Provide physical support for an unsteady gait, and wheelchair transfer.
Monitor glucose levels.
Recognize health concerns, including complications related to medical diagnoses..
Counsel and re-direct the consumer in a positive, supportive manner; handle crisis situations.
Work as a team member with medical professionals, program mangers and direct care staff persons.
Record data, update consumers' records and keep detailed progress notes.
Responsible for monthly progress note completion and submission to Program Specialist
Responsible for preparing meals
Applicants must have completed an approved curriculum as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and be in possession of current CNA certification.
Must have a HS diploma or GED equivalent. Must also have a valid Driver's License to receive consideration. Also requires, at least 1 year of prior Resident Advisor working with individuals with medical concerns. An applicant with prior work experience
working with individuals with challenging behaviors, is desired.
