JOB DUTIES:

The phlebotomist performs specimen procurement by venipuncture/skin punctures from adults, children & newborns on in and outpatients. Phlebotomist also assists in specimen processing, to include triaging all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information, following written protocols, centrifuging, aliquot and/or preserve as needed. Enter and verify patient and test info into computer. Prepare samples for transport to referral labs or storage as needed. Prepare batch or outside lab referral specimens' documentation as needed. Perform inventory as needed. Assist in monitoring workflow and schedules.. Other duties may include assisting with clinical resource leadership/training in phlebotomy, monitoring inventories of media and reagents used in diagnostic testing, quality control/quality assurance support, performing EKGs, computer operation (report printing) and data entry and retrieval. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and other shifts.



There are 7 openings:

1 opening 4:00 to 12:30

3 openings 6:00 to 14:30

1 opening 10:00 to 18:30

1 opening 12:00 to 20:30

1 opening 14:00 to 22:30



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must have a California State CPT certificate. Two years of experience as a phlebotomist is highly desired. Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, Clinical Lab test names and their abbreviated forms. Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology to include body functions and their systems. Knowledge of infection control procedures. Skill in performing phlebotomy on all age groups. Skill in using computer terminal and printer.
