The Chargemaster maintains the standard charge
description master (CDM) and charge capture areas for
UHS to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal
reimbursement in accordance with company policies and
practices and governmental regulations.
Essential Job Duties:
Ensures UHS standard CDM compliance with current
regulations and requirements and coding principles.
Regularly conducts research and reviews regulatory
requirements to assure compliance.
Successful CDM conversions of new acquisitions. In
conjunction with new acquisitions, assures conversion of
CDM and charge methodology. Conducts review of new
acquisition s CDM file and coordinates creation of files
(crosswalk, mapping, etc.) as needed for CDM conversion.
Merges UHS Standard Charge Description Master files into
facility s daily charging process. Conducts process
training as needed.
Acts as support for Revenue Cycle Issues. Acts as first
level support for Tickets from facilities to assure a
timely, complete and accurate resolution of issue. Works
with others as needed, escalates issues to Revenue Cycle
Manager as necessary.
Provides communication and education to facility and
others to assure a complete understanding of the CDM.
Performs regular audit of the CDM to assure accuracy.
Regularly conducts research and reviews regulatory
requirements to assure compliance.
Assures appropriate audit trail of revisions, additions
and deletions. Creates new standard charges as needed.
Inputs and verifies maintenance in the Patient
Accounting system.
In conjunction with Billing team, assures clean claims
and accurate data for each payer. Member of Charge
Compliance Team.
Associate's degree with a minimum of 3 years experience
Demonstrated working knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding,
hospital billing requirements, medical terminology, and
charge methodology. Ability to interpret regulatory
requirements related to coding and charging. RHIA, CCS
or RN preferred. Detail oriented ability to work
independently, decision-making skills, computer
literacy, with demonstrated written and verbal
communication skills. Five or more years in healthcare
industry is preferred, preferably in revenue cycle,
patient accounting or similar areas. Project management
experience is preferred. 10% Travel
