Sodexo is seeking a Chef Manager for Suffolk University Boston, for our education division. Suffolk University is in downtown Boston, steps from the State House and easily accessible by public transportation. The operation is in a new state of the art building that opened last September and has become the heart of the campus. Position reports to the food service General Manager and manages food production and service for in the Smith Café for four retail concepts and large volume catering. Responsibilities include: supervision and training of 20 employees, inventory management and purchasing for 1 million in volume, monitors food safety and sanitation for regulatory compliance, assists with resident and guests satisfaction. Ideal Candidate Skills / Certification: Culinary Degree/Trade School Certificate and Servsafe Certificate Fine dining experience in Restaurants / Country Clubs Ability to manage inventory for a budget of 1 million in financial volume HR skills to train & develop culinary food production teams Computer skills; food purchasing and labor management systems Experience with high volume food production and quality standards Menu planning for retail food concepts, and catering Dynamic leadership skills for outcomes that exceed client and resident expectations Schedule may vary but the usual is 8am- 6pm, Monday Friday. Some weekends and holidays according to need. Position Summary Supervises cooks and oversees the preparation, portioning, garnishing, and storage of food. Estimates food consumption and purchases food. May assist in cooking and preparing food as necessary. Responsible for maintaining kitchen and storage facilities in sanitary condition. Responsible for cash management. Interacts with client/customers on a regular basis. This position is the leader for an account/unit chef/production group. This position is in smaller accounts/units where there is not a Executive Chef or Food Production Manager. Reports to General Manager. Qualifications & Requirements Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree Basic Management Experience - 1 year Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc. Sodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
