JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY EMD Performance Materials, the North American high-tech materials brand of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, comprises a portfolio for applications in fields such as consumer electronics, lighting, coatings, printing technology, plastics, and cosmetics. Key products are: display materials, LED materials for lighting as well as OLED materials for lighting and displays, functional materials for solar panels and energy solutions, effect pigments as well as active ingredients and fillers for cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical products, effect pigments and functional materials for coatings, printing and plastics and high-purity specialty chemical materials for the electronics and semiconductor industry and is currently working on innovative materials for technologies that enable solar energy to be used efficiently and energy-saving LEDs and OLEDs to be developed.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The cleaning, preparation, and repair of delivery technology for high purity chemical products and routine maintenance of department equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares delivery technology for high purity chemical products
Accurate daily documentation of completed work & inventory transactions
Maintains a clean work area
Preventive maintenance of gloveboxes, vacuum pumps and other laboratory equipment
Complies with health and safety policies
Adheres to quality processes
Participates in physical inventories as required
Adheres to inventory procedures
Proper identification, labeling, handling and disposal of hazardous waste in the assigned work area(s)
Participates in department safety activities, including Hazard Analyses
Effectively trains new operators in safe chemical handling/operations
Recognizes business needs and drive process improvements
Maintains preventive maintenance schedules
Runs reports in the ERP system to understand the status of the departments efficiencies and effectiveness
Cross trained in multiple container services departments
Moves to different departments within container services as needed
Essential: Associates degree in the natural sciences
Desirable: Bachelor s degree in the natural sciences
Essential: 2 4 years experience in an industrial setting.
Thorough knowledge of safety procedures relating to chemical handling.
Knowledge and Skills:
Critical: Ability to understand and follow work instructions
Essential: Basic problem solving abilities. Basic PC skills across e-mail, MS Word and Excel.
Desirable: Experience or skill in repairing or maintaining equipment; experience utilizing PPE in a chemical handling environment.
ADDITIONAL LOCAL NEEDS
Physical requirements: Ability to lift 75 pounds; be able to stand for long periods of time. Work in a glove box environment; wear a full-face respirator.
First shift: 6AM- 2:30 PM M-F
