JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Hospital is a full service medical, surgical, pediatric, specialty and long term care provider, with an extensive list of clinical expertise that is available to the community in Brooklyn, NY and is searching for a VP of Information Technologies.
The position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Hospital and Medical Center and its related entities leads and manages the short and long-term strategy, development and implementation of information systems. This position provides leadership, vision, and oversight for information systems and technology, and has overall responsibility for the direction, coordination, and management of the IT business.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* _Senior Leadership_
Functions as a key member of the senior management team to provide strategic and tactical vision and leadership for the organization. Assist senior executives in identifying new areas for technology improvement resulting in operational efficiencies and increased productivity.
Builds relationships with key stakeholders including physicians and hospital leadership to understand organizational needs and evaluate solutions at all staffing levels.
Serves as the Security Officer, ensuring compliance with legislation governing the use and collection of information, computer crime, software copyright issues and confidentiality of patient information.
* _Business Results_
Develops, maintains, and manages an Information Systems Strategic Plan that establishes financial, quality, and operating objectives, while monitoring IT performance metrics, best practices, and continuous improvement.
Optimizes and expands the use of Epic's Inpatient, Ambulatory and Revenue Cycle applications.
Ensures compliance with Joint Commission's information standards.
Oversees IT policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
Oversees IT infrastructure and works to identify and evaluate solutions surrounding areas of risk, along with ensuring the planning and testing of the disaster recovery environment meets industry standards.
Develops and maintains relationships with vendors, and oversees the vendor sourcing and contract negotiation process
Develops methods and standards that highlight variances, trends and opportunities for applications, infrastructure, IT service level improvement and spend management.
Develops criteria and standards for software and hardware selection and implementation while ensuring the organization has sufficient IT infrastructure to support clinical, academic, administrative, business and research needs.
Develops and manages the annual IT operating and capital budgets

Stays abreast of the latest healthcare specific developments, advances and trends.
Stays abreast of current federal and state legislation impacting information technology.
* _Staff/Team Development_
Mentors and develops the IT team to continuously improve skills, while creating an environment to foster creative thinking and collaboration.
Monitors staff performance to ensure all IT team members are performing to departmental and organizational expectations.
Provides orientation and ongoing training to maximize staff development, contribution, and technical skills.
BS degree in Computer Science (or similar)
MBA or Master's degree in business or related field of study is required.
Senior-level IT management experience as a CIO in a healthcare/hospital setting.
Formal or informal restructuring experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Thorough knowledge of vendor systems including EPIC, Lawson, and Kronos, along with other clinical and ancillary applications related to healthcare and billing systems.
Previous leadership of transformational system implementations and post go-live enhancement.
Proven record of accurately estimating timeframes and meeting projected deadlines and budgets
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to develop staff while holding people accountable to achieve objectives.
Decisive, consistent, focused and well organized global thinker who can see the big picture and appreciates the details.
High sense of customer service with a proactive and responsive approach to service and support.
Aware of global IT trends and informed regarding federal and national IT Initiatives.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS :
College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME) membership desired
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly desired.
