DESCRIPTION

The Chief Operating Officer/Technical Director is a key member of PLMI executive administrative leadership team and holds leadership responsibility for all technically related laboratory operations, service levels, operational budgets and implementation of strategies related to the business functions and patient care activities within the service line across all main campus hospitals, regional hospitals, family health centers and Cleveland Clinic Laboratories (CCL), the institute's reference laboratory.

Serves as the lead technical operational executive for the Institute, supports the PLMI vision and provides operational management and technical direction to promote the strategic goals of the Institute and Cleveland Clinic.

The COO/TD serves as the technical liaison for all laboratory sites and provides horizontal linkage between the main campus laboratory, regional hospital laboratories, family health centers and other affiliated laboratories.

* Do you have a PhD with a specialty in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science
* Do you have a minimum five years senior level operations management experience, leading laboratory operations in a large academic medical center and/or reference lab, partnering with medical and laboratory colleagues to lead transformational change

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Minimum five years senior level operations management experience, leading laboratory operations in a large academic medical center and/or reference lab, partnering with medical and laboratory colleagues to lead transformational change.

Strong scientific background and the ability to drive technical standardization across the enterprise.

Demonstrated operational success in recruitment, budgeting, and laboratory accreditation. Effective computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as understanding of Lab Information and Hospital Information Systems.

Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with professionals at all levels across the organization. Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Theory of Constraints, etc. ISO 15189 Certification Project Management Business Development Regulatory Compliance Clinical Laboratory Management

Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and analytical skills, experience in negotiation, collaboration and time management and success in building high performance teams of technical employees Ability to effectively communicate to a large, diverse audience.

Demonstrates excellent leadership skills in a fast-paced, results-driven operational environment and effectively manages outcomes.
