Position Summary
In this position, the Child Life Specialist serves as an expert in child development, and promotes effective coping through play, preparation, education and self-expression activities to pediatric patients and their families. As the subject matter expert, the child life specialist will be responsible in the development, implementation and oversight of patient and family coping programs, staff development and education, participating in quality improvement and quality assurance activities, integrating evidenced based practices into current policies and procedural guidelines, participating in the care management of pediatric patients and their families, and assisting in the development, data collection and documentation for clinical applications and research.
Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements: Requirements are
representative of the minimum level of knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
1. Bachelor s degree in Child Life, Human Development, and Family Studies, Counseling, Child Development, Therapeutic Recreation, or Child Psychology, Master s Degree Preferred
2. Completion of a Child Life Internship
3. Current Child Life Specialist Professional Certification (CCLS), or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
4. Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in an area of Child development, staff development and education, research and evidenced-based practice, case management and regional pediatric program development.

Ability to communicate effectively and supportively within a multi-discpilinary team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
7. Experience in understanding and usage of computers, including a minimum of two years experience using Microsoft programs and applications, as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position Full Time (36-40 hrs/week) Day
