Job Description
Engineering opportunity open in the exciting and leading-edge area of Cisco network security.
The Cisco security engineer will perform security related activities in large, technically complex environments for a broad base of clientele. This will include providing recommendations to eliminate or mitigate identified network security vulnerabilities. The position also requires expertise and experience with Cisco's routing and switching and wireless technologies.
This position involves significant customer interaction and requires strong organizational, communication, leadership and client relationship skills.
The security engineer will participate in security analysis, infrastructure design, implementation and post installation technical support of Cisco and related security based solutions and may be called on for some pre-sales engineering support. Responsibilities include working directly with clients to establish/strengthen security design as well as leading the design and implementation of a secure network infrastructure.
The Cisco Security Engineer is expected to:
Concentrate on network security technologies encompassing end-point security, host/network intrusion detection/prevention, firewalls and Cisco's Threat Defense System products. The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills and experience at design, implementation and troubleshooting.
Participate in the incident response team in a hands-on, technical role to identify the root cause of security incidents, recommend and implement solutions for limiting the scope of the incident, work with client management teams to recommend and implement additional controls to prevent future incidents.
Monitor the announcements of new security vulnerabilities. Identify vulnerabilities that are applicable to the systems and applications utilized in client environment, determine their severity and urgency, work with system owners to determine if and when corrective action will be taken, and perform any necessary actions to verify that corrective measures were effective.
Conduct security reviews on client projects proposals. Attend meetings and review documentation as needed in order to identify security requirements for new and ongoing projects.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Engage effectively in multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize the work appropriately.
Spearhead the development of security related service offerings.
Function as a technical leader or project contributor on large and small-scale projects.
Document successful implementation techniques and project environments.
Mentor more junior engineers as required.
Security and technical certifications required:
CCSP and CCNP or CCIP required.
CCIE Security and vendor neutral security credentials such as Security+ or CISSP preferred.
