Department: MCR Pharmacy/Nutr Support

Summary: To coordinate and assist in the maintenance of effective patient care services, medical staff and hospital clinical support services for the Department of Pharmacy. Serves as a clinical resource and educator for the Pharmacy staff in the provision of pharmaceutical care services.Requirements: Pharm D or residency preferred. Minimum of two years as a pharmacist in a hospital or clinical setting, or one year clinical experience in a Pharm D or residency program. Basic computer literacy and skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Maintains a license in good standing to practice Pharmacy in the State of Colorado.Essential Duties: Interact with other departments and medical staff members in order to promote the pharmaceutical care model and resolve common problems in an effective manner. Support and act as resource for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, evaluating medications and making recommendations for formulary actions. Coordinate the expansion of the pharmaceutical care concept at Medical Center of the Rockies. Oversee staff development program for Pharmacy personnel to support pharmaceutical care. Plan and conduct or schedule inservice education programs for staff including age specific competency training. Carry a case load of patients, providing pharmaceutical care services. Coordinate Drug Use Evaluation functions of the department and P&T Committee. Coordinates Pharmacy Department involvement in Investigational studies. Assist in the coordination of nutrition support services with Medical Nutrition Therapy and other relevant departments. Actively disseminates written drug information throughout the hospital via publishing of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Newsletter. Serve as a member on hospital committees and medical staff committees as assigned by the Director. Assists in the coordination of activities of student interns, externs and other education programs with department activities. Assist Director in the development, implementation and monitoring of safe medication use policies and procedures. Serve as a role model through development of personal scholarship, research and participation in community education projects. Maintain a liaison with Pharmacy, Medical and other health professional organizations in the area. Full-time (80 hours/pay period) Day shift
