JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Clinical Director, Optometry:
Examine eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.
Analyze test results and develop appropriate treatment plans for patients.
Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma.
Prescribe, supply, fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids.
Promote eye health by counseling patients, including explaining how to clean and wear contact lenses
Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors.
Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
Remove foreign bodies from the eye.
Provide patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction, with pre- and post-operative care.
Provide treatment options such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.
Act as a resource for clinical skills to staff and residents on or off the unit.
Actively participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical setting.
