Job Description
Clinical Ergonomist-1200365 Description The Ergonomist manages and is accountable for general oversight of implementation of Vanderbilts ergonomic activities programs. bKey Functions and Expected Performances:b 1. Assist in planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating the Vanderbilt occupational health ergonomics program; Coordinate and develop and lead implementation of programs related to ergonomics; Develop educational materials and programs directed toward prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. Develop, initiate and champion solutions for continuous improvement of the ergonomics program. 2. Assist in evaluating the occupational health and safety programs of Vanderbilt and recommend changes in policies, procedures, or programs. Collect, track and analyze program data for reports and continuous quality improvement. Develop, initiate and champion solutions for continuous improvement of the ergonomics program. 3. Track and trend injuries resulting from work related musculoskeletal disorders and identify opportunities to strengthen program, investigate ergonomic injuries in a timely fashion, and facilitate Root Cause Analysis for avoidable adverse events. 4. Perform worksite walk-through assessments to determine employee work processes and potential sources of illness and injury; use epidemiological methods to define and monitor the health and safety needs of company employees particularly relating to ergonomic hazards; contribute to the design of health controls and surveillance of actual and potential hazardous conditions in the work environment. 5. Collaborate with other on-site members of the occupational health team such as occupational medicine physician, industrial hygienist, safety engineers, management, etc; participate in continuing education to update knowledge of occupational health and safety including legal regulations applicable to occupational health and safety. Act as OHC interdepartmental liaison through committee assignments. Collaborate with and direct OHC administrative staff to complete programmatic clerical duties. 6. Conduct training on appropriate use of ergonomic equipment at orientation as well as periodic refresher session. Serve as a representative or ambassador for the Vanderbilt Occupational Health Ergonomics program; troubleshoot ergonomic worksite issues, and promote and publicize the ergonomics program. bAdditional Information:b This is a full-time position; exempt level position.
