The Clinical Informaticist demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for informatics, supporting the Health Informatics Department vision and strategic goals of CHRISTUS Health. The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for assisting in the operation and administration of clinical information systems, collaborating with clinical associates to enhance their workflow methodology and tools. Maintains an end-user centric focus when contributing to the system; analysis, testing, documentation, education, implementation and support activities to enhance technology adoption and efficiencies to improve patient safety. This position is exempt.
Collaborate with Health Informatics colleagues across the enterprise to drive strategic goals and vision for department and CHRISTUS Health
Collaborate with Health Informatics colleagues to focus on standardized best practice workflow processes and clinical content to ensure alignment across all regions, to create efficiencies to improve patient safety
Participate with Clinical Information System (CIS) knowledge transfer and best practice dissemination across regions
Assess clinicians for maximization, efficient, and effective use of CIS as it relates to patient care, user satisfaction, clinical productivity and quality outcomes
Collaborate with Health Informatics colleagues in the development and/or revision of initiatives or programs related to data collection, retrieval, analysis and interpretation to assist in optimizing patient outcomes and/or effectiveness and efficiency
Understand and articulate the \\"connections\\" and links between and throughout department work related to Meditech and other applications
Identify and implement improvement opportunities with workflow processes and clinical information system as it relates to the practice of clinicians/providers
Provide end-user support to clinicians, using critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
Demonstrate sound understanding of clinical practice as it pertains to the integration of clinical information systems and impact on end users
Lead training efforts of clinicians/providers in the use of clinical systems and tools to support patient care
Identify associate education and competency needs in the use of electronic tools for patient care. Assure the development of an appropriate education and competency validation plan.
Provide on-going end user clinical system education and support, with all upgrades, new releases, and enhanced functionality
Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and private laws and regulations for all states in which CHRISTUS Health is present in relation to clinical documentation and electronic medical records
Communicate to all clinical end users, system changes with/or new functionality, workflow process changes, downtime procedures etc.
Identify opportunities for system enhancement/optimization utilizing identified change management process
Facilitate and support a robust super-user program within the region
Responsible for Meaningful Use attestation data collection and monitoring of non-compliance and escalate through proper chain of command
Foster relationships with regional management and other departments such as IM, Quality, Case Management, Population Health, Care Transition, Revenue Cycle and Finance to ensure efficient, effective communication and work to meet financial requirements
Bachelor's degree with a healthcare designation (i.e. RN, RRT, RHIT, LVN, etc.)
Certification/Certificate in informatics -- OR -- Previous clinical application experience preferred
Extensive MS Office Skills required
Excellent project management and communication skills, both verbal and written
Knowledge of healthcare practices and procedures as well as laws, regulation and guidelines pertaining to practice standards and regulatory requirements
Excellent verbal and written skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as a member of a team
Three years clinical experience, previous clinical applications experience or certification in informatics
Strong knowledge of clinical information systems, data management and administration
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Valid Driver's License
Current valid RN license if applicable
