JOB DUTIES:

The Clinical Lab Technologist performs independently a wide variety of technical procedures in Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology and Parasitology sections of the Brentwood Annex. Other responsibilities include maintenance repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, training, teaching and data entry. On a daily basis, assess overall workload for any area that needs help and assist co-workers without being reassigned by the supervisor.



Position mainly covers weekends.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The following are required: A current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License. Must have a minimum of at least two years experience in current technical and practical experience in Microbiology. Strong educational background and advanced training in Microbiology. Demonstrated working knowledge of current instrumentation: Bactec FX and 960, BioMerieux Vitek MS and Vitek2, Centrifuges, Water Baths, Analytical Balance, Fume hood, Biological Safety Cabinet, Incubator. Clinical and Technical knowledge: Microbiologic techniques, identification methods, Reference ranges, Test methodologies, Instrument operation and maintenance, CAP and other regulatory requirements. Personal computer knowledge. Must have knowledge of disease states associated with the tests performed in the area in order to be able to inform physicians on significance of test results. Working knowledge of laboratory safety. Able to perform testing, documentation, and interpretation.
