Assesses patients for clinical appropriateness for an acute hospital setting and establishes plans for effective management of the continuum of care for the acute care episode. Promotes and facilitates the delivery of cost effective quality health care through concurrent medical record review of selected patient populations, collaboration with physician and ancillary staff to make appropriate referrals, use of clinical outcome data, and ongoing interaction with physicians and other members of the health care team. Recommends and coordinates implementation of strategies which optimize efficient utilization of resources throughout the continuum of a patients hospitalization. A Bachelors degree in Nursing is required. Familiarity using a personal computer including word processing and spreadsheets are required. Knowledge of utilization management, issues and mechanisms, managed care and/or government requirements and methodology including DRG reimbursement models is preferred. Use of clinical data gathering methods, computer systems and the demonstrated ability to identify and analyze problems is also desired. Five to six years of progressively more responsible clinical nursing experience is required. One year of adult intensive care experience is preferred. Licensure as a registered nurse in the District of Columbia is required. Full-Time Benefits Eligible (Non-Union) - AF Day Shift (1)
