SERVICE AREA OVERVIEW
We recognize each patient s journey to recovery is different and requires a special level of care. Our Medical/Surgical Unit at Northside Hospital provides acute and rehabilitative nursing care services to help our patients get back to their daily lives. The Med/Surg unit is characterized by a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere that stresses individual attention for all patients. This approach is reflected in outstanding patient satisfaction survey results. The unit also participates in nursing education by providing internships for students. The expert we are seeking will partially work at the bedside and on the floor while primarily taking the helm as the unit s nursing supervisor.

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
* At least two years of recent, acute care, Medical/Surgical experience is required; BSN preferred
* Previous leadership or charge nurse experience is vital to this role
* Demonstrated ability to set priorities and make appropriate clinical and supervisory decisions
* Good problem solving skills
* CPR certification required; other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required based on department needs

Required: 1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. a. Three (3) years experience in clinical area with a minimum of one (1) year in area of specialty OR b. Bachelor s in Nursing with Two (2) years experience in clinical area with a minimum of one (1) year in area of specialty 2. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and make appropriate clinical and supervisory decisions. Must possess good problem solving skills. 3. Successful completion of a management course prior to appointment, or within six (6) months of employment. 4. Demonstrated leadership capabilities. 5. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in nursing with minimum of one (1) year in area of specialty. B.S. degree in Nursing.
