Position: Part-Time, Day Shift, 8:00A - 4:30P
Under the direction of the Coding Supervisor in conjunction with the Medical Records Director and within established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, codes patient records using the ICD9 CM and CPT-4 coding nomenclatures. Abstracts information into hospital computer system for statistical and billing needs. Interacts primarily with adults on an intra/inter-disciplinary level; must be able to effectively interact appropriate to intellectual level and physical ability.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or equivalent required. Registered Health Information Tech/Admin. (RHIT or RHIA) and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One (1) to three (3) years hospital-based experience for non-certified candidates required. For CCS, RHIT and RHIA certified candidates; one (1) to three (3) years coding experience is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology is required. Demonstrated proficiency in computerized medical record abstraction and encoding required. Part Time Day Shift
