JOB SUMMARY

The Clinic Coder acts as a primary resource to providers regarding all coding issues; codes diseases, procedures and operations on patient medical records utilizing the ICD-9 CM and CPT-4 classifications; challenges unpaid or reduced services; performs chart review and abstracts data; remains current regarding coding literature, utilizing Internet searches, coding references, and phone inquiries; designs, revises and participates in the development of all outpatient and specific inpatient professional fee sheets/ supply sheets; maintains an understanding of physicians work RVU. In addition, the Clinic Coder demonstrates the ability to research CPT codes; assists Medicare billers with correct diagnosis, ICD-9 procedure codes and modifiers and demonstrates the ability to perform HB billing

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Required:
Accredited by the American Health Information Management Association as an RHIT or a
Certified Coding Specialist/CCS or a
Certified Procedural Coder Hospital/CPC-H or a
Certified Coding Specialist Physician based/CCS-P or a
Certified Procedural Coder/CPC (Professional Component Coding) or
