Department: HIM
The Coder thoroughly reads medical records, abstracting diagnoses and procedures and translates those diagnoses and procedures into ICD-9-CM, CPT, and/or E/M, HCPCS, and Modifier Level I & II codes for assignment of final DRG or APC, as applicable. A working knowledge of coding (in an acute care setting), medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, as well as, knowledge of computerized health information/abstracting systems is highly recommended for this position. Full time AA Deg: Med Sec,RHIT w/recent acute care ICD-CM/CPT Cod exp. Coder Certification highly preferred 3 months to 1 year of experience
