Job Description

Experienced Coding Manager for growing Healthcare System Large Maryland Healthcare System is seeking full-time manager to manage coding operations. This position is responsible for the record coding amp; abstracting process functions of the department and related system and reporting needs. Directs the staff responsible for coding. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, amp; Abilities Required: AHIMA Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), preferably with bachelors degree in business administration or related field. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred, in addition to RHIA or RHIT. Minimum of three years ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding supervisory experience in a hospital health information department required; five years experience is preferred. Experience with hospital charge description masters and compliance initiatives preferred. Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements are also needed. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; places special emphasis on responding to customer needs and requests. Good computer skills, including use of word processing, spreadsheet and health information management software. Specific knowledge of encoder, DRG grouping, APR-DRG grouping, and medical record abstracting software required.
