The Patient Biller III is responsible for accurately processing inpatient and outpatient claims to third party payers, following all mandated billing guidelines. He/she is responsible for ensuring Timely Filing guidelines are met. Provide quality control checks on paper claims; process tracers, denials and related correspondence; initiate appeals; draft, compose, and submit appeal letters specific to coding issues consistent with the most updated American Medical Association Current Procedural Terminology. The Patient Biller III must have the ability to perform all required duties within the patient accounting systems. The Patient Biller III may serve as a primary source for Customer Service assistance and ensuring customer satisfaction. He/she must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in order to address and resolve patients' concerns. The Customer Service Patient Biller III will handle a high volume of incoming customer service calls in a call-center environment. This position requires a general knowledge of overall Business Office functions. He/she must demonstrate a positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, and must be professional in both appearance and approach. Skilled in the usage of all Microsoft and other programs as defined by the Faculty Practice Group, Physicians' Billing Office Management Staff.
Direct supervision required. Daily, weekly and/or monthly Unit meetings may be required. Direct review of daily production and other production-based reports in an effort to validate staff usage needs, portfolio reduction efforts, customer services and staff morale.


Skill in reading correspondence, charged documents, EOB's and all other insurance forms.

Two years recent medical billing experience in physicians' office or clinic with Medi-Cal, Medicare, Managed Care, and PPO insurance's.

Knowledge of on line registration procedures including payor data and financial classes.

List any equipment (machines, tools, office appliances or motor vehicles) required to do the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation. Indicate whether use is seldom, occasional, frequent, or constant.

Frequent use of computer, fax, copier, printer, calculator, telephone, other general office appliances

Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel software
