The Commodity Manager - Electronics, leads strategic procurement activities in support of direct/indirect materials and services, including evaluating and developing bids and proposals, product sourcing, supplier assessment and management, and supply base rationalization. Manage assigned suppliers to deliver world-class levels of quality and delivery performance, as well as improved total cost performance. The leader in this role must be absolutely relentless about continuous improvement.
Job Core Responsibilities
* Manage purchases by agreement, contract, kanban methodology, or discrete purchase order management for assigned commodities and suppliers. * Be the procurement single-point-of-contact for key internal stakeholders across multiple job functions including: Finance, Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Corporate Procurement, etc.Address requests and action items, communicate, and close them accordingly. * Lead selection of suppliers in collaboration with key stakeholders, using a sound, data-driven selection process and sound decision criteria. * Manage supplier relationships and lead quarterly business account reviews for key suppliers. * Drive supplier performance, including:quality, delivery, pricing, lead times, and cash management.Collaborate with supplier quality organization on sustaining and improving supplier quality performance. * Manage category source strategy, negotiation, complex supply agreements, cost-modeling. * Work closely with key customer Sales Account Managers in organizing special bids and quotations. * Coordinate sourcing and procurement requirements during transfers from NPI into production. * Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. * Perform additional related duties as assigned. * Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.
Education : Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Logistics, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
Certifications : CPIM and/or CSCP preferred.
Years Experience : 5 - 7 years of relevant experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience in Lean Manufacturing and its application to supply chain management required. * SAP, or comparable ERP system, proficiency required. * Demonstrated experience sourcing and completing contract negotiations required. * Exceptional project management skills required. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. * Strong analytical skills, including statistical analysis, required. * Understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and BOM structures required. * Familiarity with DoD and DCMA regulations preferred. * Experience in aerospace and defense industry preferred. * Experience with interactive reverse auctions preferred.
