Underwriters Laboratories Inc. is the not-for-profit entity of UL. Under minimal supervision, the internal communications specialist develops advanced communications concepts, plans and implements communication programs using a variety of media for internal audiences, both within UL's not-for-profit (NFP) and across the UL enterprise. This critical role supports UL NFP leadership in developing and executing all internal communications strategies and plans. Work in close collaboration with UL NFP Communications team, Human Resources and enterprise internal communications colleagues. Track and report on the effectiveness of internal communications campaigns and tools.

Manage the development of internal communication projects from conception to production, including copywriting, formatting, publication and tracking
Work with internal stakeholders to identify their needs, including identifying the key audience, preparing materials geared towards the prospective audience and identifying channels which will reach the intended audience
Build strong relationships with UL NFP leadership to understand their group strategies and objectives and formulate appropriate communications plans and messaging to support those objectives
Develop and sustain internal communications channels and content for target audiences across the NFP and the enterprise
Build and sustain a platform for searching and sharing assets and content among UL NFP employees and leaders
Create and implement templates and best practices
Develop and manage the budget for assigned initiatives
Collect, analyze and interpret results in regards to the efficiency and effectiveness of communications channels and campaigns
Liaison with UL Public Relations team, inform UL NFP Communications team of key happenings and engage as necessary
Performs other duties as directed.
1 st Year Initiatives:
Develop and execute communication plan to UL employees for the launch of the NFP
Develop assets and publish to NFP intranet channel
Create and publish newsletters to key internal stakeholder groups
Build and sustain a platform for searching and sharing assets across the NFP
Establish an information sharing workflow with UL enterprise public relations team for the purpose of sharing PR outreach and stats with UL NFP employees
* BS/BA degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations or related field
* Strong copywriting and editing skills
* Top-notch communication skills: presentation, verbal, writing, editing
* Comfortable and capable of interacting with senior leaders
* E xperience managing and/or using a wide array of internal communications tools
* Values innovation and flexibility, is proactive, motivated and a self-starter
* Ability to know when to lead and when to take direction
* Nothing is out of scope attitude
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Experience in SharePoint a plus
* Basic graphic design skills a plus
* Marketing automation skills a plus
