The International Business Development and Marketing (IBDM) division of RTI s International Development Group (IDG) works closely with four program areas: education, governance, economic growth, and water & environment. IBDM supports these program areas in setting and implementing medium term business development strategy worldwide. IBDM provides timely market research and trend analysis of key clients and assists program areas in aligning strategy with these evolving trends. IBDM leads IDG s online and social media presence as well as the creation of other marketing content. Being an organization with multiple lines of business, all communications must work within corporate marketing and strategy guidelines. IBDM works closely with RTI s corporate communications team and with other business development units across RTI.
Develop IDG s content for our external website, intranet, social media presence, and marketing materials. Evaluate existing content, make recommendations for enhancements based on state of the art communications approaches and an evaluation of target audiences, and implementing approved recommendations. IBDM wants to employ a focused and user-friendly approach to communications material. Content development requires extensive liaising and collaboration with program area staff and RTI s corporate communications office. Specialist will have access to writing support from other IBDM staff and interns however the Specialist is expected to take a primary role in drafting and finalizing content.
Advise IDG staff in the home office, regional offices, and project offices worldwide, on best practices in promoting RTI s technical expertise and project activities in routine implementation and in advance of key proposals and events.
Monitor IDG s clients and competitors marketing and communications activities and make recommendations how RTI can learn from, complement, and improve upon those efforts.
Maintain printed brochures and other materials for routine use, surge requests for special events, and regular distribution to our offices worldwide.
Support IBDM and program areas in coordinating special events in Washington, RTP, and other locations as required.
Support management of IDG s internal website s business development and marketing content.
Support IBDM s broader tasks, in particular market analysis, data migration to new technology platforms and proposal support as required.
Position allows for significant exposure to RTI s multi-faceted technical activities and opportunities for domestic and international travel as required. IBDM is a small, dynamic team and the position allows for leadership opportunities for applicants able to craft and implement a communication strategy for a major business unit inside a large non-profit.
Bachelor s degree required in communications, journalism, international development, international relations, political science, business administration, or related social sciences. Masters degree preferred.
Two to five years related work experience in marketing, advertising or branding required
Exposure to and interest in international development preferred.
Exceptional writing skills.
Self starter and comfort in working independently.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, includes the ability to work collaboratively with multiple divisions within IDG and RTI.
Excellent computer skills, including the ability to manage and organize large quantities of qualitative data. Working knowledge of Sharepoint and Salesforce is an advantage.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Working knowledge of foreign language(s) (e.g., Arabic, Spanish, and French) is an advantage.
