JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Summary for Hospice Community Liaison
* Position is a highly visible, public role. Position will include regular contact and interaction with the local healthcare community, medical providers, general public and sources of news media. Role will provide focused interaction and information to help communicate and educate parties regarding hospice philosophy of care, mission and purpose of Hospice Programs.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degreepreferably in Marketing, Communications, or other related field. Minimum two years experience in similar position.
Must have excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
Understands hospice philosophy.
Ability to manage volunteers/staff.
Excellent communication skills. Both written and verbal.
Ability to write clearly, persuasively and sensitively to effect positive results from the community, as well as to produce all hospice print materials (i.e. brochures, newsletters, correspondence, press releases, PSA's and related advertising).
Ability to give clear, coherent speeches and presentations to community agencies, service groups, churches and schools.
Ability to educate groups and agencies about programs and services to effect earlier referrals.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Develops, implements and monitors a strategic community education plan.
Participates in agency and community programs to promote understanding of hospice services.
Increases the community's knowledge of Hospice and subsequent referrals.
Coordinates all of Hospice's community outreach and education activities, including but not limited to the Speakers' Bureau and participation in Health Fairs.
Interacts on behalf of Hospice with appropriate groups and organizations.
Act a spokesperson for Hospice.
Communicates with news media and other external inquirers.
Supports the Director in maintaining relationships with major donors.
Develops and monitors internal policies and procedures.
Assures the timely and complete acknowledgement of all gifts to Hospice's designated fund, including but not limited to memorial contributions.
Assures appropriate interface with the general public, etc. via sensitive telephone and in-person interactions.
Responsible for oversight of all Hospice print materials.
Writes and produces materials such as the quarterly departmental newsletters, brochure and related collateral's, press release and public service announcements.
Supports the Director in writing and producing Hospice of Frederick County's Annual Report.
Responsible for the production of written materials.
Provides support to administrative volunteers.
Assists in training and utilizing volunteers who aid in community relations activities.
Demonstrates effective communication skills and cooperation with team members in a respectful manner.
