Job Description

As a Competitive Analysis Electrical Engineer, you will use your Electrical Engineering skills to provide cost analysis and competitive benchmarks for the Consumer Electronics Product Engineering (CEPE) organization. CEPE is responsible for a wide range of products. You'll be a key contributor to product development teams in early product design, by applying your Electrical Engineering knowledge to analyze schematics and circuits, estimating Bill of Materials (BOM) component costs, and analyzing electronic designs and cost structures of competing products.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Identify opportunities that lead to a competitive advantage for consumer products
*

Develop and maintain part cost estimates
*

Identify cost reduction opportunities that can be applied to products
*

Conduct teardowns of competing product, develop associated schematics and analyze circuit performance
*

Present results of product teardowns including circuit analysis, to new product development teams.
*

Develop and maintain technology assessments based on product teardowns and reverse engineered designs
*

Identify opportunities for improvements to existing and future products
*

Coordinate feature/function evaluations with CEPE subject matter experts
*

Present results from ongoing individual workgroup competitive assessments
*

Collaborate with the Advanced Manufacturing & Supply Chain Engineering and Global Supply Management divisions in developing and maintaining cost methods and models for CEPE

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in one of the following:

*

Product Design and Development
*

Value Engineering or Value Analysis
*

Cost Engineering
*

Component Engineering
*

Sustaining Engineering
*

Procurement Engineering
*

Systems Engineering
*

Manufacturing Engineering

*

The ability to read schematics and understand Electrical Engineering circuit design rationales
*

Experience conducting teardown of competing products, and analyzing circuit performance
*

Established proficiency in electronic component cost estimation
*

Working knowledge of Value Engineering tools and methods
*

Excellent communications skills and great attention to detail

EDUCATION:

*

BSdegree. Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or an equivalent, technically focused degree is required.
