The Concierge department is responsible for all guest services in hotel and manages guest inquiries, including but not limited to advising guests regarding transportation options, sightseeing and entertainment in and around Washington, DC according to the Hay Adams Standards of Excellence. The Concierge on duty also provides support to all members of the Front Office, particularly the bell & door staff in training, supervision and managing their environment properly as well as handling all guest or other requests as required by Management. Furthermore the Concierge must also assist with directing lobby traffic and monitor the hotel front entrance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Perform all job duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Hay Adams handbook, the department operation manual as well as all hotel policies and procedures are part of this job description. Monitor activities of all employees in the Front Office department making sure they adhere the standards of excellence and to the guidelines set in the employee handbook, hotel policies and procedures, coaching, training and correcting where needed. Receive and record all faxes and ensure they are delivered to the guest in a timely fashion. Receive and record all packages, including but not limited to FedEx, UPS, USPS and DHL and ensure they are delivered to the guest in a timely fashion . Assist guests with restaurant reservations and provide them with a written confirmation Assist guests with driving directions to and from the Hay Adams over the phone, in person, via fax or email. Field calls for Housekeeping, Engineering and other departments. Communicate requests and information clearly to the appropriate individuals. Follow through accordingly and ensure that guests needs have been met and all requests have been resolved. Assist guests in foreign currency exchange services and explain the exchange rate as well as the hotel's percentage. Ensure that the issued Concierge bank is maintained accurately, organized and balanced each day Work closely with the Front Desk Department, Lobby Ambassador and Assistant Front Office Manager and assist them whenever possible and/or when asked for assistance. Ensure a proper Passover to the next shift including all special requests and/or irregularities. Provide feedback to the Head Concierge and Front Office Manager and keep them abreast of any problems or incidents. Report any suspicious persons, activities and/or hazardous conditions to the Security department and/or the Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty. Perform any other duties as required and directed by Management .
