ProjectParsons has won a major construction and renovation contract at the BWI Airport. This phase of the contract and projects with BWI can exceed $150 million in design-build capital improvement expenditures. NeedUnder general supervision, the Civil Building Construction Inspector inspects a variety of civil, structural, and architectural building systems being built on the construction site. Solves problems, helps plan and coordinate the work, advises engineers and contractors on potential problems and best solutions. Writes daily reports, documents nonconformance, and helps determine acceptable corrective actions. Enforces compliance with plans, specifications, and codes. In addition, conducts inspections and tests to determine if work is being done in accordance with contract requirements. Assists in coordinating the work, conducting investigations, and finding solutions. Responsibilities include the following: Inspects the work to ensure it conforms to contract requirements and applicable codes, and is being conducted in accordance with approved submittals, quality control plan, safety and health plan, and security plan. QualificationsRequirements: ?? Willingness to reside in Baltimore area.?? Able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and thoroughly familiar with construction processes related to civil, architectural, and structural systems. ?? Familiar with building codes as they pertain to civil construction, including the ACI, PCA, CRSI, AISC, AWS, BOCA, UBC, ICC, SSPC, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, OSHA, ADA. ?? A working knowledge of building demolition, foundation excavation, formwork, concrete reinforcement, concrete placement, masonry, steel fabrication and erection, cold-formed metal framing, composite decks, hardware, metal fabrications, building insulation and waterproofing, roofing, exterior wall systems, carpentry, blocking, gypsum board, windows and doors, glazing, flooring, suspended ceilings, millwork, and painting. ?? A working knowledge of standard trade practices, including delivery and proper storage of materials; inspection for compliance with codes and specifications; confined space requirements; support of excavation; trenching and backfill for underground lines; and trouble shooting and emergency repair procedures.
