CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT SPECIALIST DESCRIPTION:

Schneider Electric is currently looking for an individual with an in depth knowledge of data center operations and equipment such as UPS systems, electrical switchgear, generators, and air conditioning as they apply to a 24/7 critical data center environment. This individual will provide construction liaison for a new data center under construction in Boydton, Virginia.

Note: This position does not include project management responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design Review

* Review design document submissions, addendums, and bulletins of construction drawings and specifications

* Prepare formal written comments for vetting and distribution

* Attend design review meetings, provide comments, and distribute notes

* Perform cross checks where disciplines interface, i.e. electrical disconnects, as specified in the mechanical scope of work

Construction Support

* Ability to navigate document control sites and make entries into the commissioning tool

* Review documents, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, product samples, and prepare formal written comments for distribution

* Check all shop drawings for conformance with contract documents, site conditions, and previous documents for changes and revisions

* Attend construction meetings, perform site surveys, and report findings using issue tracking software

* Work with the Clients design and engineering departments and construction team members to resolve findings

Commissioning Support

* Attend commissioning meetings

* Review commission Scripts using SharePoint sites

* Provide formal written comments on draft scripts

* Review final approved commissioning scripts

* Attend all major commission efforts

* Attend First of Kind Factory Witness tests (FWT) as needed

Operations Support

* Meet with the operations team, receive updates on operational issues, and provide updates on construction activities and issues.

* Meet with the Operations team, provide support and mentoring to new CE team members

Primary Location: !*! REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

* Licensed in electrical or mechanical trades

* 5 years experience in electrical or mechanical design, or critical facilities construction.

* 2 to 5 years experience as a member of a data center operations team

* Candidate must have knowledge of data center design, construction, maintenance, and operation of state-of-the-art critical environment systems with the ability to demonstrate such knowledge.

* Relevant experience with critical systems infrastructure equipment (i.e. electrical switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, cooling systems, air handlers, fire detecting / suppression, and building / electrical monitoring and control systems).

* Microsoft Office - PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, SharePoint, Latista

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

* Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

* The successful candidate will be resourceful and innovative at tackling complex challenges in a timely matter

* Flexible and adaptable: Candidate should be able to switch gears in various high-stress situations and apply themselves to quickly learning new technologies and adopting new methodologies
