THE ROLE IN BRIEF:
The Medical Group Strategy Council publishes best-practice research and decision support resources supporting hospitals and health systems physician networks. Studies identify and explore salient issues and industry trends that are of universal and vital importance to the membership, including the impact of MACRA on physicians, patient access, clinical quality, physician burnout, and more. Studies typically examine the forces that have shaped the industry to date, and offer projections regarding its future evolution.

Consultants play an integral role in producing research materials and advancing the team s thinking. Consultants provide intellectual leadership and analytical direction and guidance throughout all stages of the research process, working through extensive primary and secondary research, hypothesis generation and testing, stakeholder interviews, rigorous analysis of findings, and the final presentation of ideas.

This opportunity is based in Washington, D.C.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key skills developed in the Consultant role include the following:
- Strategic and root cause analysis
- Inductive and deductive reasoning
- Hypothesis generation
- Ability to formulate and defend original points of view
- Synthesis of complex ideas
- Persuasive writing
- Effective use of graphics and visuals to communicate ideas and information

Examples of recent syndicated research initiatives include:
- The new patient access standard
- Physician burnout in an era of care transformation
- Best practices for improving clinical quality in the ambulatory setting

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor s Degree
- 5-12 years of relevant experience
- Experience with at least one of the following:
- Conducting long-term research (at least 3 months in duration)
- Conducting primary and secondary research
- Demonstrated interest in health care
- Writing in-depth reports in an academic or professional setting

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree
- Ability to quickly determine appropriate analyses and direct analysts to conduct them
- Experience working with clients in a consultative role
- Health care clinical experience
- Experience working in a team environment, as well as independently and autonomously
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior executives
- Experience conducting root-cause analysis
- Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines
- Experience with solution focused problem solving and thinking through problems creatively
