JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY This is a temporary/ contract position (18 months-2 years) - directing the execution of one or more major capital projects from conception / design to completion. Involves management of outside engineering firms, contractors, etc. who are engaged in project activities. Responsible for project scope development, design package reviews, bid package preparation, equipment specification review, initiation of equipment procurement, project cost control, schedule preparation/tracking, field execution. Routine reporting of project KPIs to upper management.
--- BS Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) with 10 + years engineering experience primarily in major plant level capital project execution and management in the chemical process industry.
--- PMP Certification highly preferred.
--- US Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card) is required.
--- High personal standard of personnel and process safety.
--- Project management software experience.
--- Successful demonstration of managing major industrial capital projects of $50M - $100M magnitude.
--- Promotes and actively participates in "ADAPT" Behavioral Safety Process and Environmental Stewardship activities.
--- Performs and/or contributes to thorough process design reviews, Hazard and Operability Studies (Hazops) and "What If" analyses on current operations as well as proposed changes to plant equipment, processes and systems via the plant Process Safety Management of Change (MOC) process.
--- Interacts routinely with operators, shift supervisors and Management to communicate real-time project status as well as communicating any future needs or issues.
--- Performs and/or contributes to Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA's) and incident investigations and completes assigned action items on schedule.
--- Identifies and facilitates implementation of production, reliability, efficiency and cost improvement opportunities.
--- Participates in joint plant/equipment/safety walk throughs with operations and maintenance.
--- Ensures projects are successfully integrated into the planning and execution of planned outages and turnarounds.
--- Executes projects via a project team that includes production engineers, maintenance engineers, equipment specialists, and operations/maintenance personnel.
--- Coordinates schedules of all in-house and outside contractors construction work with area Production Specialists, Area Managers, Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and E&I Supervisor.
--- Develops, controls, and tracks project cost estimates. Report on project cost status (KPI) on a routine basis.
--- Develop bid packages (RFQ) including detailed scope-of-work to include any associated specifications.
--- Initiate and/or review equipment specifications. Initiate equipment procurement process and work with procurement department to assure accurate tracking of equipment ordering and delivery.
--- Manages scope changes, document and track all scope changes accordingly.
--- Proficient with project management software, particularly MS Project, Primavera, Oracle.
--- Performs sufficient up-front engineering to adequately define project scope, technical risks, estimate and schedule before AFE preparation.
--- Executes projects in a manner that enhances SHE, quality, reliability, and efficiency performance of the site in full concert and with buy-in of the area teams and support groups.
--- Executes capital projects in accordance with site, SHE, security, and quality policies and procedures along with federal, state and local regulations, industry codes and standards, professional engineering practices and the site Engineering Procedure Manual.
