We are currently seeking a Controller capable of managing processes and systems to achieve an effective environment of financial controls that is supportive of the overall business. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to design, communicate, and manage global financial reporting processes. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director or Senior Director, Corporate Controller will interface with all members of the Company s leadership team and with each of the Company s functional areas, including manufacturing, research and pre-clinical and clinical development. He or she will be energized by the opportunity to understand the overall business and help establish streamlined business processes and implement an efficient infrastructure capable of scaling with the rapid growth of the business while addressing the primary corporate objectives.
As a key member of the Finance leadership team, this individual will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting operations (e.g., payroll, general ledgers, accounts payable, etc.), financial statement reporting, stock administration and purchasing. This person will oversee 4 5 direct reports. The Director or Senior Director, Corporate Controller will work closely with the Company s outside auditors as well as the internal operational teams. Duties include:
Manage, mentor, and develop a high performing, professional team of accounting operations and purchasing team members.
Manage timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting results through the close and consolidation process.
Lead the relationship with our independent auditors, manage the annual audit process.
Lead the external financial reporting function, including the reporting to other regulatory authorities in multiple jurisdictions worldwide.
Develop, maintain, and enforce technical accounting policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP (and for purposes of some country-specific reports, IFRS).
Lead analysis of technical accounting issues: Provide well-supported and documented interpretation of GAAP and IFRS literature, identify relevant changes in accounting guidance, and monitor processes for compliance with accounting literature.
Recommend accounting treatment for complex transactions (e.g., licensing or collaboration transactions).
Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Implement appropriate internal controls and apply good business practices.
Evaluate and implement systems to further automate processes for efficiencies and effectiveness while enhancing internal controls.
Oversee compliance and filings for all areas of tax, including corporate income tax, sales tax and VAT.
Assist in the evaluation of and lead the execution of any tax related projects.
Assist in the interactions with investors in addressing their requirements.
Manage the insurance program for all entities.
Help to set a tone at the top that stresses ethics, integrity, and good governance
