In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for assisting management team in making appropriate financial decisions, monitor actions within the location to insure compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as generally accepted accounting procedures, and forecast potential changes in performance and balance sheet items. P3 Recruiting is in search of a accounting professional to act as Plant Controller for one of its Manufacturing and Distribution clients. This individual will be the financial member of Plant management team. They will be responsible for assisting management team in making appropriate financial decisions, monitor actions within the location to insure compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as generally accepted accounting procedures, and forecast potential changes in performance and balance sheet items. Set up management accounting system to provide Plant Manager and Plant Management Team information regarding current performance and target areas for improvement emphasis. Have some familiarity with superior's immediate role and have a commanding use of all subordinate skills and behaviors.The Plant Controller will have three direct reports, Accounting Manager, Plant Accountant, Payroll Administrator and he/she will report to the Division Controller.Daily Responsibilities: Responsible for accounting procedures at the Tiffin location including updating procedures and insuring compliance with procedures as agreed upon by Corporate Accounting and Finance Department.Review requisitions as presented through the E-Req system in a timely manner.Plant performance reporting to VP Finance, Sr. VP Supply Chain & Operations and Plant Manager.Review move tickets for the transfer of Finished Goods to other plants and insure the goods have a standard cost in Mapics at the other location.Training and development of accounting staff.Approves access to inventory transactions, perpetual record data files and physical inventory data files.Interaction with Plant Management Team to develop continuous improvement culture.Review employee expense reports.Monitors natural gas prices for cost saving opportunities for Tiffin plant.Responsible for purchasing plant office, first aid & some safety supplies.Provide financial analysis of capital project requests and part of the approval process as required.Monthly & Quarterly Responsibilities:Responsible for month end closing process including the running of reports & queries.Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports (including reports for Corporate Financial Package).Oversee the tracking of spending on capital projects.Responsible for the reconciliation of financial data to the general ledger.Review all journal entries and ensure compliance with procedures.Review or prepare month end accruals (i.e. demurrage, I/C freight, Freight for overseas containers, utilities, waste disposal, equipment rent, fringes, etc.)Responsible for payroll tax reporting & remittance.Give financial reports as required.Forecast plant average daily production, inventory levels, material/labor/overhead variances, spending, plant productivity and man hours.Update/create reports for benchmarking & productivity improvements which are designed to encourage continuous improvement.Responsible for the reconciliation of FG, WIP and Raw Material Inventories to the general ledger.Interact with and provide information to Corporate as neededInteract with and provide Plant Manager with monthly financial statement and reports and Plant Management Team information as required.Annually assist in creating and assembling budget information.Annually responsible for the control of the annual Physical Inventory and reconciliation of results.Annually update all Excel spreadsheets to reflect new budget numbers and beginning inventories for the next year.Quarterly compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley process interviewing process owners, updating documentation, testing, identifying and recommending ways to minimize risks, and obtaining signatures from persons involved in procedures.Quarterly review and documentation of Segregation of Duties checklist.Annually responsible for most Balance sheet account reconciliations for the Auditors.Interact with and provide information to Corporate as neededResponsible for quarterly and annual payroll, property, and sales tax reports.Interact with and provide information to the Plant Manager and Plant Management Team as required.Qualifications:Education Requires a bachelordegree in Accounting or equivalent training, which will provide a working knowledge of generally, accepted accounting principals as applied to a manufacturing environment.A CPA is also beneficial. Cost accounting skills are a must.Experience 5-8years of previous Accounting experienceSkills (Must be proficient)Leadership skills to motivate & develop staffAbility to work in cross functional teamsSelf-motivated and works well under stressExcellent written & verbal communication skillsExcellent analytical skills and ability to make good decisionsPC with Microsoft word & excelOrganizational & multi-tasking skillsAS400 (or similar Manufacturing software system)
