This role offers an opportunity to begin a career in Corporate Insurance with exposure to Corporate Risk Management functions and Loss Control. Areas of responsibility include:
a leadership role in establishing and overseeing safety and risk management policies, developing strategies for Hanover claim prevention and mitigation of loss. This role provides support to the entire organization in the identification, aggregation and profiling of exposures to risk within various department of The Company and developing solutions to mitigate and monitor those risks.This position is a rotational trainee position. The expected duration of assignment is 2 years. In addition to the safety responsibilities the position involves participating in the Loss Control trainee program which involves classroom training, mentoring, and self-study. At the end of the 2 year assignment the candidate will have a strong background to enter into a Loss Control consulting position.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Partner with department management across multiple business functions to develop strategies and technical expertise to reduce exposures related to employee/guest safety as well as property and automobile exposures associated with employee driving- Strive to execute department best practices including the identification, documentation, and monitoring of risks/exposures- Evaluation of Hanover loss data to identify claim trends, recommend and assist in developing solutions for addressing trends- Developing and implementing a holistic ergonomic program for employees- Creating and maintaining safety training and materials- Partnering with Corporate Security to oversee the guest incident investigation process and emergency planning- Partnering with Human Resources to oversee the employee incident investigation process and Return to Work program- Assist the Facilities Department in oversight of employee and contractor safety- Overseeing Fleet safety efforts for Hanover Owned and Non-owned driving exposures- Coordinating property valuation surveys with Risk Solutions- Participate as an active member on the Corporate Safety CommitteeAdditional Responsibilities of Loss Control Trainee:
- With oversight participate in the Loss Control trainee program completing required curriculum- Supports the Loss Control team by:
collecting data, preparing files and file supplements, and other technical assistance to their mentor- Demonstrates understanding of loss control standards and trends related to commercial lines of business- Able to begin conducting account underwriting surveys, focuses on technical/skill development related to loss control such as codes and standards shortly after the completion of the rotational assignmentPosition RequirementsRequirements:
