GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW



Partners HealthCare Information Systems (IS) Enterprise Medical Imaging (EMI) is seeking a Team Lead to work with world-leading research departments and investigators to develop machine learning (ML) systems supporting biomedical and clinical research.

To be successful, this individual will appropriately task development assignments to team members to complete complex projects that directly affect patient care and outcomes.

The Team Lead will ideally have: a demonstrable background of ML development using deep learning (classification) tools, extensive development experience in a group environment, significant experience in designing data workflows and interfaces, experience with data (text and images) transformation, and, experience with data management in a health care setting.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Assign projects/tasks to the appropriate development team members and manage successful outcomes, align assignments and outcomes with the priorities of both EMI and the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Clinical Data Science leadership, as directed.
Develop/manage documentation, code management policies (code vaulting {Git}), code reviews and general polices enforcing code readability and choice of technologies.
Facilitate and participate in development/design sessions to determine technology choices and approach, lead and govern discussions with researchers, developers, project managers and project owners.
Assist in designing/implementing software for high performance computing systems conventional HPC clusters and new GPU super computers such as the NVidia DGX-1.
Participate in developing clinical scenarios (documentation that defines the ML problem to solve and the desired outcomes) especially the components that relate to technology and development.
Hire and retain staff, facilitate training and development, provide guidance and coaching, complete performance evaluations on schedule and work with Human Resources to enforce organizational policies and procedures.
Establish and create a positive team environment through leadership and mentoring. Works with staff members to develop an individualized professional development path with clear goals and objectives.
Provide the proper supervision, work environment and structure to assure performance and well- being of employees. Provide clear channels of communication, delegation and accountability within the team for effective problem solving.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Masters degree in biomedical, electrical, computer engineering, or computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Experience managing developers with common policies for documentation, coding and agile development methodologies
1 year of experience in deep learning classification systems (experience on medical images a major plus)
5 years of programming experience utilizing several of the following environments: PHP, Java, C/C /C#, Python, R, Matlab or similar
5 years mix of development and management of web applications and databases (SQL, Hierarchical, Schema less, etc.)
3 years of experience supporting informatics systems in a biomedical, medical imaging or Healthcare setting a major plus
Experience supporting related components of 3rd-party and open-source applications and analysis tools (Hadoop, R, Matlab, Docker, Caffe, Theano, Tensorflow, etc.)
Systems administration including scripting and automation on Windows and Unix/Linux systems

WORKING CONDITIONS



Standard office environment with possible local travel to Partners sites.





SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY



Responsible for 5 direct reports of core developers.

Ensure projects meet budget and time estimates.
