Under the supervision of the Courier Manager, provides for the pick up and delivery of laboratory specimens between client offices and the laboratory.

Job Duties

Using laboratory vehicles, picks up laboratory specimens from client offices and

delivers them to the laboratory for processing.

Documents all pick up and delivery times in an appropriate manner.

Carries out defined departmental duties on a daily basis including clerical work

and maintenance of department inventory.

Makes sure laboratory vehicles are maintained and kept neat and clean.

Fills requests for phlebotomy supplies received from client offices.

Delivers supplies to client offices.

Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment in accordance with the OSHA

Blood Borne Pathogens Standard, Infection Control and Safety Policies.

Collaborate with members of the Laboratory Support Staff Team to promote

department goals.

Serves as a positive role model to others in areas of:


Development of interpersonal relations

Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned department


Ensures the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or

exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department.

Requires good attention and concentration. Good visual, verbal and hearing skills. Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types and ages necessary. Able to read and write English. Carrying specimen coolers and supplies (25-50 lbs) to and from client offices. Long periods of driving in laboratory vehicles.

Required Five years of driving experience and an excellent driving record.

Required Completion of high school education or equivalent.

Required A Valid and Current Drivers License, and clean driver's record per NSMC policy, which will be reviewed annually during employee's employment.
