Responsibilities/Job Description:
This position works a rotating 12 hour shift and is responsible for monitoring and controlling the real time operation of compressor stations, pipeline facilities, measuring and regulating station and other facilities to optimally receive and deliver volumes of gas for various pipeline customers.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
* Participate in the development and implementation of the daily, planned activities and is responsible for the direction of the pipeline. Optimizes pipeline system through efficient use of horsepower and pipeline facilities. Effectively and proactively relays and changes occurring on the pipeline to appropriate field personnel.
* Coordinates activities between field and gas control personnel on any planned or unplanned outage of pipeline facilities. While outages are in progress, the controller is responsible for communicating with field and gas control supervision regarding any issues with an outage that might arise.
* Utilizes the SCADA system to monitor pressures, pack levels, engine and horsepower data, flow data, alarms, gas quality, and other operational data to enhance decisions. Utilizes SCADA system to operate Houston-controlled compressor stations, regulators, meter flow/pressure set points, RCV's, and ROV's to ensure timely flow and pressure requirements.
* Responsible for front-line emergency response to abnormal pipeline conditions in a manner that is consistent with Spectra Standard Operating Procedures and Abnormal Operating Conditions procedures.
* Utilizes web-based and stand-alone PC programs to administer daily objectives and activities in a proactive manner that compliment system pressure and flow requirements.
* Appraises supervision of situations of concern, such as sudden increases or decreases in demand or loss of compression in order to enhance their ability to make timely and cost efficient decisions.
* Performs work in compliance with Company policies and procedures as well as regulatory bodies, such as Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through adherence to standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
* Interfaces in a professional manner with internal and external customers, whether through verbal, written, or interpersonal communication.
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
* Associates degree in engineering, electronics, logistics or related technical field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
* Two (2) years progressive gas control or equivalent related industry experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
* Ability to work 12 hour rotating shift.
* Ability to work overtime as required.
* Proficiency with MS Office suite.
* Demonstrative interpersonal skills.
* Effective communication skills, verbal and written
* Effective negotiation skills for interfacing with internal and external customers
* Proven ability to assimilate and prioritize a significant volume of real time information and determine proper course of action in at time, extremely stressful and high paced work environment.
* Abel to proactively anticipate system demands and work with field operations to ensure system requirements are met.
* Work independently with good problem solving skills.
