Job Description: The Current Product Engineer will lead New Product Development programs, define and implement continuous improvement projects on gas product, and work as part of cross functional team at Nogales production facility to implements continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities include:

New Product Development (NPD)

*

Design products and their related systems, sub-systems, and components
*

Complete project technical deliverables
*

Ensures product design is robust and meets project scope requirements
*

Coordinate technical activities on a daily basis
*

Provides guidance to test group on non-standard test setup and data presentation
*

Ensures satisfactory completion of Design Validation Plan
*

Define and prioritize technical work per project plan and critical path
*

Develop technical solutions to achieve project scope & marketing/sales requirements
*

Leads product design risk assessment
*

Perform design reviews, including design for manufacturing/assembly reviews with cross functional team members, and suppliers
*

Support development of the project business case
*

Coordinate and support plant manufacturing pilots
*

Lead post-commercialization process to hand-off to manufacturing and current engineering

Continuous Improvement of Current Product

*

Works as part of cross functional team for manufacturing process changes
*

Identifies & implements product cost reductions
*

Identifies & implements product design changes to support market growth
*

Reduces warranty costs by increasing design & process robustness
*

Improves customer satisfaction via design & process robustness
*

Identifies & implements product design changes that improves manufacturing capacity
*

Identifies & implements product design changes to strengthen regulatory compliance



Required Competencies/Skills/Education/Training

*

Bachelor s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, and 3-10 years related experience
*

Ability to work with little or no supervision in completing projects on time
*

Knowledge of high volume manufacturing processes
*

Ability to interpret regulatory and product safety standards
*

Solid modeling/3D CAD experience
*

Intermittent travel required to production sites (Nogales, Sonora) & to suppliers

Desired Competencies/Skills/Experience

*

Mechanical system design experience including plastic injection, die-cast, screw machine, metal stamping, and powdered metal components.
*

Knowledge in Product Data Management systems such as Team-Center or Mapics.
*

Skilled/experienced in design for high volume assembly/manufacturing.
*

Knowledge/basic awareness of finite element analysis & other CAE methods.
*

Knowledge/experience with product test methodologies, data acquisition tools & methods.
*

Experience in verifying products to regulatory/safety standards, using outside test agencies.
