This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] This role is responsible for supporting the Cyber Security program at FirstEnergy, which includes but is not limited to, governance, policies and procedures, awareness and training, incident response, and vulnerability management. This position requires the candidate to be able to communicate the security program to others within the organization at all levels, look for ways to improve the security program through updates to process and technology, and drive adherence to the security program. This position is located in the Akron, Ohio area and reports to the Supervisor, Corporate Cyber Security. Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting the implementation of Cyber Security capital projects by assisting with implementation of devices; evaluating vendor solutions; assisting with coordination of vulnerability assessment activities; assisting with review of programs, policies, procedures and standards in relation to cyber security best practices. - Assessing the need for and develop new cyber security programs, policies, standards, projects and initiatives. - Performing Cyber security incident response activities and communicates as appropriate to Management. - Performing security testing and evaluation. - Providing feedback and recommendations to management on existing and new security technology and processes. - Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. - Performing additional security related tasks as assigned. - Providing security support and guidance to other groups within FirstEnergy. - Assisting with regulatory program initiatives and compliance tasks. - Assisting with development and review of new security baselines and creation of security baselines for new technologies.
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field - 2+ years professional work experience in Cyber Security Preferred - Certifications such as CISSP, Security+ or SANS GIAC preferred - Ability to work independently as well as within groups. - Experience in writing and reviewing policies, procedures, standards and baselines based on cyber security standards and best practices - Excellent communication skills to effectively annotate findings in both written and oral form - Ability to communicate clearly and present security findings with technical staff as well as non-technical colleagues - Sensitivity to accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism in all areas of support activity is imperative. - Experience with System and Network Administration (Windows, Linux, AIX, Cisco, Juniper, etc.) - Strong analytical and problem solving skills - Knowledge of Risk Management techniques to defeat advanced attackers - Ability to work independently with minimum supervision - Ability to work with highly confidential information - Demonstrated ability to grasp security concepts and demonstrated knowledge of security management practices, security architecture, security operations, and security modeling. - Knowledge of telecommunications, network and Internet security access control systems and methodology. - Experience managing large and small projects with interdisciplinary teams preferred
