Job Description
AmeriPath, Inc. is the nation's largest physician and laboratory company focused on providing anatomic pathology, cancer diagnostic and healthcare information services to physicians, hospitals, national clinical laboratories and managed care organizations. The company presently operates in 24 states and provides medical services through outpatient pathology laboratories, hospital inpatient laboratories and outpatient surgery centers.
Our Kansas City, MO practice has an immediate opportunity for a full time 3rd shift Cytotechnologist. The hours for this position are 11:00pm-7:30am.
Qualifications:
* Meet CLIA requirements (CFR.493.1483).
* Meet state licensure requirements, if applicable.
* Meet ASCP requirements for Cytotechnologist (if not certified prior to employment, must pass ASCP registry within one year of start date).
* Liquid-based cytology training/certification (ThinPrep and/or Surepath), preferred.
Key Performance Responsibilities:
* Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological slides daily * Complete log of cases screened with each 24 hour period * Records negative/normal microscopic interpretation for gyn/non-gyn cases on appropriate log or computer system. * Perform FNAs as required * Maintain ability to process non-gyn specimens * Non-gyn follow-up * Records preliminary microscopic interpretation and sends to the Pathologist for review. * Routine negative gyn smears signed out by the Cytotechnologist * Correlate and retrieve anatomic history * Cytology and Histology slide review * All atypical gyn and all non-gyn smears are reviewed by the Pathologist * Review non-routine problems or interpretations of normal policies and procedures with supervisor * Follow all departmental quality assurance/quality control policies and procedures * Comply with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as department rules, polices, and procedural manuals. * Adherence to Safety Regulations. * Adherence to HIPAA Regulation.
